Principal Engineer

The NH Dept. of Transportation, District 1 in Lancaster, has a vacancy for a full time Principal Engineer (20449).

The Principal Engineer directs and supervises overall highway operations and maintenance within a highway district of the Department of Transportation as well as administering, formulating and authorizing complex engineering and administrative policies and procedures.

Min. QualificationsBachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in civil engineering.  Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Nine years' experience in civil engineering, five years of which shall have involved responsibility for planning, budgeting, and directing engineering work.

License/Certification:  Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of New Hampshire.  Possession of a valid driver's license and/or have access to transportation for statewide travel.

Special Requirements:  Prefer candidate lives within highway district.  Must have a telephone and must be available 24 hours per day to respond to highway issues and emergency situations.
